"The Third", a short film that is both complex and interesting.

In this short film of just 5 minutes, Jiarui Gan introduces us to a complex psychological plot. It analyzes, without subtlety, several aspects of the human condition. A situation that seems simple, encloses different focuses. A woman, perhaps homeless, lives obsessed with the lives of others. In this case, a couple that looks almost perfect and what those two people hide behind the screen of the American dream and conjugal love. The obsession crosses the limits of reason and enters the criminal irruption in a foreign world. With an ending that I will not spoil, it sums up the intention of Jiarui Gan to analyze the extreme behaviors that produces our society, which is nourished by deficiencies, selfishness and hypocrisy.
We could even say that Gan’s film crosses the boundaries of social criticism. Three women and a man, who are not particularly interesting, interpret with precision, thanks to a direction that has very clear what is expected from each of them, the characters of this story. The music, apparently composed exclusively for "The Third," meets the climate exposed.
Gan surprises us with his brilliance writing and directing films perhaps because he has an international background. Born in China, raised in Canada, educated in Rhode Island, perhaps the most cultured area of the United States. He said: "My creative journey has been shaped by a passion for storytelling that balances clarity with mystery, crafting narratives that resonate emotionally and intellectually. I thrive on collaboration, finding inspiration in diverse perspectives, and leading teams with a vision that value both individuality and unity. As director, I draw from a wide array of influences, both my fine arts background and self identity. My films often explore themes of judgment, decision-making, and human connection, shaped by my fascination with psychology and the profound ways it impacts our lives."
He has already won many awards in his film career and we hope that he will continue to surprise us. "The Third" is excellent, it sums up in a short a difficult and complex story.
